Why I Use Ben Nye Banana Powder

A review of my favorite face powder (pros and cons) and how to get your hands on one!

This week I wanted to show you the tried and true powder I use on my face for winter, summer, ––actually all the seasons.

Price: Not as expensive as you’d think and lasts for ages ($18-26)! I bought this when Ricky’s was closing down, so I think I got a huge discount (miss them). I don’t trust shopping for makeup on Amazon yet, or anything related to skin unless it’s a trusted seller. If you’re like me, check out Ben Nye’s online store locator.

Package: Cheap, very, very cheap. The one gripe, besides it being in a loose powder format, is the packaging. I don’t need it to be flashy, but because I’m extremely clumsy and lack balance, I tend to drop things… a lot. Especially if I’m wearing all black or white.

Travel-friendly: Clunky AF for travel. Instead, I transfer the powder into a smaller container, so I only use what I need and not lose my mind if I lose the powder.

Amount: You need to go very light. This can become cakey if you use the wrong brush or have a heavy hand, but it’s absolutely incredible for hot summer days. I don’t remember this oxidizing on my skin. If you overapply, just use a face mist to help it spread evenly across your skin.

Color: “Banana,” which is excellent if you have yellow/peach undertones, but try them out for yourselves! I do not recommend this for pink undertones. They do have pink loose powder as well.

Repurchase? Yep, it’s been my repurchase for over 6 years. This is the only loose powder I love wearing, and lasts long enough for a workday.

Let me know how it goes. See ya! ❤

Black and White Classic Casual Wear

Featured

Can you believe we are at the end of 2020? I can’t either—cheers to the new year, in black and white everything.

The black bodysuit is from Boohoo. I’m wearing a size 10(m); I feel like a 5lb sausage in a 3lb bag, so please be sure to measure yourself. I may have lost all sensation in my arms for this photo op, but worth it for you guys. The detail in this bodysuit is beautiful. You can wear it with a skirt or with pants, which is great for versatility.

I love white, but I’m not blessed enough to maintain things the same color. Usually, I ruin white articles with makeup, my dog’s hair, and pen stains.

My pants are from American Eagle. This brand is great for short term use. The only issue (my fault) is the hip/waist ratio. My love handles don’t like to be hugged, and it’s a bit too low for me, so make sure you’re comfortable in the kind of rise you purchase.

Shoes are by BCBGeneration. I love this brand!! They look sexy, clean, and again, it’s all about versatility for me. I need to dress outfits up and down for me to buy them. Make sure you have flats nearby if you are planning on walking in heels. Tip: rub deodorant on your feet to prevent friction, but not on open skin!

I cannot tell you how much I miss wearing pumps. Before quarantine, I planned to buy new pairs of shoes and dumped about eight. Then covid hit, and now I’m just sitting by shoeless (I’m exaggerating). No point in getting anything now, since there’s nowhere to go (*cries in silence*).

For accessories, I kept it simple since the colors are what pop out the most.

The purse is from Nine West. It’s pretty old and has held up exceptionally well. You can find inexpensive quality bags at Marshall’s, but they don’t always pop up. This tote I found online has a similar feel but shop around for your perfect size. I wouldn’t say I like big bags, since I’m short.

My watch is from Kapten and Son in rose gold. Classic, clean, and wrist slamming durable.

Earrings: They are simple teardrop looking with a rose gold/nude hint to them. They were a gift from a friend, but here are some similar-looking ones. If you have a round face, long earrings usually compliment it well.

I added another bag. ^ it’s a mini book-bag from Kapten & Son to make this outfit a bit more playful.

What are you wearing for the New Year?

Earth Tones Smart Casual Wear

Neutral tones, black, and grey for winter. This winter outfit is super easy to match and useful if you eat with your clothes. Who else is cleaning up their closets today huh??!🤣

The blazer is from Liz Claiborne. If you want loose fitting blazers, then she’s your gal. I like the fit since it lets me move around and doesn’t feel like I’m suffocating. For the winter, it’s great to slip on and stay warm too! It wasn’t expensive, either. I actually bought this blazer during my cater waiter days. So glad that’s over, haha. I can afford to pay for my groceries now.

Knee-high boots make me feel so confident! I don’t think they’ll ever be out of fashion. Be careful when buying ones that tie in the back. They’re great, but the straps sometimes roll, pulling the boot down. These were super inexpensive and have seen at least 3 winters, so I won’t complain. Make to measure your calf size so that your boots are tight enough to fit with pants and leggings but not too tight as to suffocate them.

Pact leggings, I love their fit, the size, everything. Since it’s cotton and organic, they don’t last like spandex, but that doesn’t matter to me. I’m happy to buy clothing that’s organic, tide-free, fair trade certified, and the list goes on!! I’m happy to invest in this brand. I also bought tops from them.

My sweater was super cheap (Amazon). I wore this once, and now it has sweat stains on it. So, if you’re going to go for this brand, be sure to buy the darker shades like brown and black.

Accessories: Kapten & Son Watch.

See ya!
